About Us

People to People Ambassador Programs organizes international and domestic educational travel programs and leadership conferences for students and athletes ages 10-18, college students, and adult “citizen” ambassadors. All programs foster the vision of global understanding that began with People to People founder, President Dwight D. Eisenhower.

During almost 50 years of operation, Ambassador Programs has helped thousands of individuals explore the world. Each year, delegates venture to such destinations as Australia, New Zealand, Europe, China, South Africa and Cuba, gaining friendship and knowledge along the way.

World citizenship is the key. Student programs focus primarily on culture and heritage; student-athlete programs promote friendship through a shared interest in sports; conferences and college programs emphasize leadership, citizenship and academic advancement; and the adult programs concentrate on professional interaction and cultural understanding. Virtually every delegate participates in a humanitarian or community service project.

Delegates take part in activities unique to a region, such as snorkeling along the Great Barrier Reef off of Australia or ascending the Eiffel Tower in France. Delegates go behind the scenes to gain cultural insights and interact with citizens in their host countries.

Student Ambassadors, for example, often enjoy home stays with selected host families, visit government offices, and learn traditional arts such as dancing the flamenco in Spain or playing Gaelic football in Ireland.

Adult Ambassadors participating in professional meetings and discussions visit family homes, schools, and hospitals or other facilities with overseas colleagues. Professional delegates may hike on the Great Wall and visit the Houtongs (Old Beijing) in China, or experience a wildlife safari and see where Nelson Mandela was held in South Africa.

Our delegates are inspired to achieve. Whether through direct recommendation or involvement in academic or professional organizations, People to People delegates are among an exclusive group. The application process may involve submitting letters of recommendation and successfully completing an interview. Once accepted, delegates receive educational materials to help them prepare for the journey. Beyond learning in extraordinary settings, delegates build lifelong friendships, and gain insights and advantages for future endeavors.
